IOC awards 2026 Winter Olympic games to..

Yesterday, The IOC awarded the 2026 Winter Olympic games to Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo received 47 IOC Votes to Stockholm-Ire, Sweden, who had 34 votes. According to the IOC there were 81 valid voting IOC Members and a majority of 41 votes was needed. Several Cities bidding for the 2026 Winter Olympic games dropped out or their bid failed by a referendum vote. Those cities were, Calgary, Canada, Sapporo, Japan, Sion, Switzerland, Graz, Austria and. Erzurum, Turkey. The IOC said than Milan- Cortina d'Ampezzo bid aligns with Olympic 2020 reforms as over 90 percent of structures(permanent and temporary) used for the games have been built. The games will take place from February 6-22, 2026.
