The USA men's volleyball team lost to Brazil 3-1, 32-30, 23-25, 21-25, 20-25. The USA's next match is Argentina.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Jake Gibb/Tri Bourne lost to Cherif/Ahmed of Qatar 2-0, 18-21, 17-21. Gibb Bourne go 2-1 in Pool C and advance to the knockout round.

Hailey Fernandez (7th-309.55 points) and Krysta Palmer (15th-279.10 points) qualify for the 3M springboard semifinals. Top 18 divers qualify for semifinals.

The USA women's basketball team beat Japan 86-69. Japan had a 30-28 lead after 1 quarter but the USA had the lead at halftime 49-40. A'ja Wilson had 20 points and Brittney Griner/Breanna Stewart had 15 points each to lead team USA,

The USA women's soccer team beat the Netherlands 2-2 (4-2 on penalty kicks) to advance to the semifinals against Canada. Sam Mewis scored the first goal and Lynn Williams scored the second goal for the USA. The USA led 1-0 then it was tied, then the USA took a 2-1 lead at halftime before the Netherlands tied it at 2 each. 2 scoreless periods of 15 minutes each led to the penalty kicks phase.  Goalie Alyssa Naeher saved the first Netherlands penalty kick for the USA and Rose Lavelle made the first penalty kick to put the USA up 1-0 and penalty kicks by Alex Morgan, Christen Press and Megan Rapinoe gave the USA 4 good penalty kicks while USA goalie Alyssa Naeher made another key save to give the USA the 4-2 penalty kick win.

The USA baseball team beat Israel 8-1. Joe Ryan got the win.

In track and field, Elise Cranny and Karissa Schweizer, both of the USA, advance to the women's 5000M finals.

Ketorah Orji of the USA advanced to the women's triple jump finals.

Raven Saunders and Jessica Ramsey, both of the USA, advanced to the women's shot put finals.

The USA 4 by 400 mixed relay team of Elija Godwin, Lynna Irby, Taylor Manson and Bryce Deadmon advance to the finals.

Grant Fisher of the USA finished 5th in the men's 10000M final.

In men's swimming, Caeleb Dressel and Michael Andrews, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the 50 freestyle.

In women's swimming, Abbey Weitzeil and Simone Manuel, both of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the 50 freestyle.

Robert Finke of the USA advanced to the men's 1500 freestyle finals. 

The USA women's 4 by 100 medley relay team of Rhyan White, Lilly King, Claire Curzan and Erika Brown advanced to the finals.

The USA men's 4 by 100 medley relay team of Joe Armstrong, Andrew Wilson, Tom Shields and Blake Pieroni advanced to the finals.

Caeleb Dressel of the USA wins gold (49.45 seconds - world record) in the men's 100 butterfly. Kristof Milak of Hungary wins silver in 49.68 seconds and Noe Ponti of Switzerland wins bronze in 50.74 seconds.

Katie Ledecky of the USA wins gold (8 minutes 12.57 seconds) in the women's 800 freestyle. Ariane Titmus of Australia wins silver in 8 minutes 13.83 seconds and Simona Quadarella of Italy wins bronze in 8 minutes 18.35 seconds.

Caeleb Dressel and Michael Andrew, both of the USA, advance to the men's 50 freestyle finals.

Abbey Weitzeil of the USA advanced to the women's 50 freestyle finals.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Sarah Sponcil/Kelly Claes beat Ana Patricia/Rebecca of Brazil 2-1, 17-21, 21-19, 15-11. Sponcil/Claes advance to the knockout round after going 3-0 in pool D.

In track and field, Anna Cockrell, Sydney McLaughlin and Dalilah Muhammad, all of the USA, advanced to the women's 400 hurdles semifinals.

In track and field, Isiah Jewett, Clayton Murphy and Bryce Hoppel, all of the USA advanced to the men's 800 semifinals.

Gabriele Cunningham, Keni Harrison and Christina Clemons (Manning), all of the USA, advance to the women's 100 hurdles semifinals.

Valarie Allman of the USA advanced to the finals of the women's discus.

Chris Nilsen and KC Lightfoot, both of the USA, advance to the men's pole vault finals.

USA gymnast Simone Biles has withdrawn from 2 of the 4 women's gymnastics event finals on Sunday August 1. Biles withdrew from the vault and uneven bars. MyKayla Sknner will replace Biles on vault. No American gymnast will replace Biles on uneven bars.
