Day 9



Allyson Felix, Phyllis Francis and Natasha Hastings, all of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the women's 400.

Marvin Bracey, Justin Gatlin, and Trayvon Brommell, all of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the men's 100.

Emma Coburn, Colleen Quigley and Courtney Frerichs, all of the USA, advance to the finals of the women's 3000 Steeplechase.

Keturah Orji of the USA advanced to the finals of the women's triple jump.

Mason Finley of the USA finished 11th in the men's discus.

The USA women's water polo team defeated Hungary 11-6.

The USA wins gold in the rowing women's eight competition.

USA diver Abby Johnston advanced to the finals of the women's 3M Springboard diving competition with 324.75 points. Cassidy Cook of the USA, did not make the finals. Cook finished 13th with 304.35 points.

The USA men's volleyball team beat France, 3-1, 25-22, 25-22, 14-25, 25-22.

Sam Kendricks of the USA advanced to the finals of the men's pole vault.

LaShawn Merritt of the USA advanced to the semifinals of the men's 400.

Jeff Henderson of the USA wins gold in the men's long jump. Luvo Manyonga of South Africa wins silver. Greg Rutherford of Great Britain wins bronze.

Tori Bowie and English Gardner, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the women's 100.

In the men's 10,000M, Galen Rupp of the USA, finished 5th in 27 minutes 8.92 seconds. Mo Farah of Great Britain wins gold in 27 minutes 5.17 seconds. Paul Kipngetich of Kenya wins silver in 27 minutes 5.64 seconds. Tamirat Tola of Eithiopia wins bronze in 27 minutes 6.26 seconds.

Clayton Murphy and Boris Berian, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the men's 800.

Tori Bowie of the USA wins silver in the women's 100 in 10.83 seconds. Elaine Thompson of Jamaica wins gold in 10.71 seconds, Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica wins bronze in 10.86 seconds. English Gardner of the USA finished 7th in 10.94 seconds.

Barbara Nwaba of the USA finished 12th in the women's heptathlon with 6309 points. Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium wins gold with 6810 points, Jessica Ennis Hill of Great Britain wins silver with 6775 points. Brianne Theisen-Eaton wins bronze with 6653 points.

In women's swimming, in the 50 freestyle, Simone Manuel of the USA wins silver in 24.09 seconds. Pernille Blume of Denmark wins gold in 24.07 seconds. Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Belarus wins bronze in 24.11 seconds.

In men's swimming, in the 1500, USA swimmer Connor Jaeger wins silver in 14 minutes 39.48 seconds. Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy wins gold in 14 minutes 34.57 seconds. Gabriele of Italy wins bronze in 14 minutes 40.86 seconds.

The USA(Kathleen Baker, Lilly King, Dana Vollmer, Simone Manuel) wins gold in 3 minutes 53.13 seconds, in the women's 4 by 100 swimming medley relay. Australia wins silver in 3 minutes 55 seconds.
Denmark wins bronze in 3 minutes 55.01 seconds.

The USA(Ryan Murphy, Cody Miller, Michael Phelps, Nathan Adrian) wins gold in 3 minutes 27.95 seconds in the men's 4 by 100 swimming medley relay. Great Britain wins silver in 3 minutes 29.24 seconds. Australia wins bronze in 3 minutes 29.93 seconds.

The USA won 33 swimming medals total. The USA won 16 gold, 8 silver, 9 bronze.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena beat Huber/Seidl of Austria 21-14, 21-15.

The USA men's water polo team lost to Spain 10-9.

The USA women's basketball team beat Spain 103-63. The USA was led in points by Diana Taurasi with 13 points, Sylvia Fowles and Elena Delle Donne had 12 points each. The USA led Spain 54-37 at halftime.

Katie Ledecky and Missy Franklin, both of the USA advance to the finals of the women's 200 freestyle,

Michael Phelps of the USA advanced to the semifinals of the men's 200 butterfly.

The USA beach volleyball team of Jake Gibb/Casey Patterson lost to Huber/Seidl of Austria, 21-18, 21-18.

The USA men's basketball team defeated Venezuela 113-69. Paul George led the USA in scoring with 20 points. Jimmy Butler had 17 points and Kevin Durant scored 16 points for team USA.

The USA women's volleyball team beat the Netherlands, 3-2, 18-25, 25-18,21-25, 25-20, 15-8.

The USA men's gymnastics team finished 5th with a total of 268.560 points. Japan wins gold with 274.094 points. Russia wins silver with 271.453 points. China wins bronze with a total of 271.122 points. Sam Mikulak high score was a 15.700 on the Parallel bars and 15.366 on the vault. Mikulak scored 15.000 on high bar, 14.866 on the floor exercise and a 14.733 on the pommel horse. Chris Brooks scored 15.108 points on the high bar, 15.100 on the parallel bars and 14.666 on the rings. Jake Dalton scored a 15.466 on the vault and 15.325 on the floor exercise. Danell Leyva scored a 15.533 on the parallel bars and a 14.333 on the high bar. Leyva fell off of the high bar. Leyva scored a 14.333 on pommel horse. Alex Naddour scored a 15.033 on the vault, 14.966 on the rings, 14.633 on the pommel horse and 13.566 on the floor exercise.

USA men's 10M Synchro divers David Boudia/ Steele Johnson wins silver with a total of 457,11 points. Aisen Chen/Yue Lin of China wins gold with a total of 496.98 points Eom Daley/David Goodfellow of Great Britain wins bronze with a total of 444.45 points.

Katie Ledecky of the USA advanced to the finals of the women's 200 freestyle. USA swimmer Missy Franklin did not qualify.

Conor Dwyer of the USA wins bronze in the men's 200 freestyle in 1 minute 45.23 seconds. Sun Yang of China wins gold with a time of 1 minute 44.65 seconds. Chad LeClos of South Africa wins silver with a time of 1 minute 45.20 seconds.

Kathleen Baker of the USA wins silver in the women's 200 backstroke with a time 58.75 seconds. Katinka Hosszu of Hungary wins gold with a time of 58.45 seconds. Kylie Massie of Canada wins bronze with a time of 58.76 seconds. Tying for bronze is Fu Yuanhui of China.

USA swimmer Ryan Murphy wins gold in the men's 100 backstroke with a time of 51.97 seconds. David Plummer also of the USA wins bronze with a time of 52.40 seconds. Xu Jaiyu of China wins silver with a time of 52.31 seconds.

USA swimmers Lilly King(1 minute 4.93 seconds) and Katie Meili(1 minute 5.59 seconds) wins gold and bronze respectively in the women's 100 breaststroke. Yulia Efimova of Russia wins silver in a time of 1 minute 5.50 seconds.

Michael Phelps of the USA advances to the finals of the men's 200 butterfly.

Maya DiRado and Melanie Margalis, both of the USA, advanced to the finals of the women's 200IM.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Kerri Walsh Jennings/April Ross beat Wang/Yue of china 21-16, 21-9.
