Day 6



The USA men's beach volleyball team of Jake Gibb/Casey Patterson lost to Herrera/Gavira of Spain, 19-21, 21-16, 7-15. Gibb/Paterson are eliminated after going 1-2 in Pool F.

Simone Manuel and Abbey Weitzeil, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the women's 100 freestyle

Ryan Murphy and Jacob Pebley, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 200 backstroke.

Lilly King and Molly Hannis, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the women's 200 breaststroke.

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 200IM.

The USA advanced to the finals of the women's 4 by 200 freestyle relay.

The USA women's volleyball team defeated Serbia, 3-1, 25-17, 21-25,25-18, 25-19.

The USA women's basketball team beat Serbia 110-84. Diana Taurasi led team USA with 25 points. Breanna Stewart added 17 points and Tina Charles scored 15 points.

USA 3M Springboard Synchro divers Sam Dorman/Michael Hixon win silver with a total of 450.21 points. Jack Laugher/Chris Mears of Great Britain win gold with a total of 454.32 points. Yaun Cao/Qin Kai of China win bronze with a total of 443.70 points.

Sam Mikulak of the USA finished 7th with 89.631 points, and Chris Brooks, also of the USA finished 14th with 87.632 points in the men's gymnastics all around competition. Kohei Uchimora of Japan wins gold with a total of 92.365 points. Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine wins silver with 92.266 points. Max Whitlock of Great Britain wins bronze with 90.641 points.

The USA men's basketball team beat Australia 98-88. Australia was leading the USA at halftime 54-49. Carmelo Anthony led team USA with 31 points. Kyrie Erving added 19 and Kevin Durant scored 14 for team USA.

Kristin Armstrong of the USA wins gold in the women's cycling road time trial. Olga Zabellinskaya of Russia wins silver. Anna van der Breggen of the Netherlands wins bronze.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Kerri Walsh Jennings/April Ross beat Forrer/Verge-Depre of Switzerland 21-13, 22-24, 15-12. This match was only the seconf time Walsh Jennings lost a set in Olympic play. She is 47-2 in Olympic sets.

Josh Prenot of the USA wins silver in the men's 200 breaststroke in 2 minutes 7.53 seconds. Dmitriy Balandin of Kazakhstan wins gold in 2 minutes 7.46 seconds. Anton Chupkov wins bronze in 2 minutes 7.70 seconds.

Cammile Adams of the USA finished 4th and USA swimmer Haili Flickinger finished 7th in the women's 200 butterfly final.

Nathan Adrian of the USA wins bronze in the men's 100 freestyle in 47.85 seconds. Kyle Chalmers of Australia wins gold in 47.58 seconds. Pieter Timmers of Belgium wins silver in the men's 100 freestyle in 47.80 seconds.

USA swimmers Lilly King and Molly Hannis did not advance to the finals of the women's 200 breaststroke.

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the men's 200IM. Phelps finished first, Lochte second.

The USA team of Allison Schmitt, Leah Smith, Maya DiRado and Katie Ledecky win gold in the women's 4 by 200 freestyle relay in 7 minutes 43,03 seconds. Australia wins silver in 7 minutes 44.87 seconds. Canada wins bronze in 7 minutes 45.39 seconds.
