In men's Track and Field, Mason Finley and Andrew Evans, both of the USA, qualified for the finals of the men's discus.

Michelle Carter and Raven Saunders, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the women's shot put.

Boris Berian and Clayton Murphy, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 800.

In Track and Field, in the women's 10000m final, American's Molly Huddle and Emily Infeld finished 6th and 11th respectively with times of 30 minutes 13.17 seconds for Huddle and 31 minutes 26.94 seconds. Almaz Ayana of Eithiopia set a new world record and winning gold in 29 minutes 17.45 seconds. Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya wins silver in 29 minutes 32.53 seconds. Tirunesh Dibaba of Eithiopia wins bronze in 29 minutes 42.56 seconds.

Simone Manuel and Abbey Weitzeil, both of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the women's 50 freestyle.

Connor Jaeger and Jordan Wilimovsky, both of the USA, advanced to the finals of the men's 1500.

The USA women's soccer team lost to Sweden on penalty kicks 4-3. Sweden took a 1-0 then Alex Morgan tied it. The teams played 30 minutes of extra time but was forced to go to penalty kicks. Christen Press missed a key kick over the goal and then Sweden won it. The USA women's soccer team is now eliminated from the tournament. This loss is the first for USA women's soccer since 2000.

The USA women's volleyball team beat Italy 3-1, 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20.

The USA men's Water Polo team lost to Montenegro 8-5.

The USA women's basketball team defeated Canada 81-51. The USA led at halftime 36-22. The USA was led in scoring by Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore who each had 12 points to lead team USA.

The USA men's basketball team beat Serbia 94-91. The USA was leading 50-41 at halftime. Leading scorers for the USA were Kyrie Irving with 15 points, Deandre Jordan had 13 points, Kevin Durant and Paul George each had 12 points.

Kim Rhode of the USA wins bronze in women's skeet shooting. Diana Bacosi of Italy wins gold. Chiara Cainero, also of Italy, wins silver.

Gil Roberts, Lashawn Merritt and David Verburg, all of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the men's 400.

USA swimmer Katie Ledecky sets a new world record of 8 minutes 4.79 seconds in the women's 800 freestyle. Jazmine Carlin of Great Britain wins silver in 8 minutes 16.17 seconds. Boglarka Kapas of Hungary wins bronze in 8 minutes 16.37 seconds. Katie Ledecky finishes Rio with 4 gold and 1 silver medal.

USA swimmers Anthony Ervin(21.40 seconds) and Nathan Adrian(21.49 seconds) win gold and bronze respectively in the men's 50 freestyle. Florent Manaudou of France wins bronze in 21.41 seconds.

Simone Manuel of the USA advanced to the finals of the women's 50 freestyle. Abbey Weitzeil of the USA did not advance to the finals.

Sam Mikulak of the USA finished 7th with 89.631 points, and Chris Brooks, also of the USA finished 14th with 87.632 points in the men's gymnastics all around competition. Kohei Uchimora of Japan wins gold with a total of 92.365 points. Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine wins silver with 92.266 points. Max Whitlock of Great Britain wins bronze with 90.641 points.

The USA men's basketball team beat Australia 98-88. Australia was leading the USA at halftime 54-49. Carmelo Anthony led team USA with 31 points. Kyrie Erving added 19 and Kevin Durant scored 14 for team USA.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Kerri Walsh Jennings/April Ross beat Forrer/Verge-Depre of Switzerland 21-13, 22-24, 15-12. This match was only the seconf time Walsh Jennings lost a set in Olympic play. She is 47-2 in Olympic sets.

Jun Hoong Cheong/Pandela Rinong Pamg win silver with a total ofc 344.34 points. Meagan Benfeito/Rosaline Filion of Canada win bronze with a total of 336.18 points.

The USA women's gymnastics team wins gold with a total of 184.897 points. Russia wins silver with a total of 176.688 points. China wins bronze with a total of 176.003 points. Simone Biles scored at 15.933 on vault, 15.800 on floor exercise, 15.300 on balance beam and 14.800 on uneven bars. Aly Raisman scored a 15.833 on vault, 15.366 on floor and 15.000 on balance beam. Laurie Hernandez scored a 15.233 on balance beam, 15.100 on vault and 14.833 on floor exercise. Gabby Douglas scored a 15.766 on uneven bars. Madison Kocian scored a 15.933 on uneven bars.

The USA women's soccer team tied Columbia 2-2. Goals were scored by Crystal Dunn and Mallory Pugh. Columbia scored on a shot that went through USA goalkeeper Hope Solo's legs. The USA had the lead 2-1 when in the 90th minute Columbia scored again to tie it. The USA wins group G.
