Day 12



Shelby Houlihan and Abbey D' Agostino, both of the USA advanced to the finals of the women's 5000. D'Agostino was tripped and fell and finished her race. D' Agostino filed a protest and was reinstated but she suffered an injury and may not compete in the women's 5000 final. American Kim Conley did not advance to the final.

Americans Jenn Suhr and Sandi Morris advance to the women's pole vault finals.

Robbie Andrews, Matt Centrowitz and Ben Blankenship, all of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the men's 1500.

Christian Taylor(58-7) and Will Claye, both of the USA, win gold and silver respectively in the men's triple jump. Bin Dong of China wins bronze.

Kristi Castlin, Nia Ali and Brianna Rollins, all of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the women's 100 hurdles.

Ameer Webb, Justin Gatlin and LaShawn Merritt, all of the USA, advance to the men's 200 semifinals.

USA American divers Michael Hixon(4th) and Kristian Ipsen(7th) qualified for the men's 3M springboard finals.

The USA women's volleyball team beat Japan 3-0, 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 to advance to the semifinals.

Simone Biles(15.966) and Aly Raisman(15.600), both of the USA, win gold and silver respectively in the women's floor exercise. Amy Tinkler of Great Britain wins bronze with a 14.933.

Danell Leyva of the USA wins silver on the men's parallel bars with a 15.900. Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine wins gold with a 16.041. David Belyavsky of Russia wins bronze with a 15.783.

Nile Wilson of Great Britain wins bronze with a 15.466.

Kristian Ipsen of the USA finished 5th with 475.80 points in the men's 3M springboard diving competition. Michael Hixon of the USA finished 10th with 431.65 points.

The USA women's basketball team beat Japan in the quarterfinals 110-64. The USA led 56-46 at halftime. Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore led team USA with 19 points each. The USA moves on to the semifinals.

Ronnie Ash and Devon Allen, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the men's 110 hurdles. Jeff Porter of the USA did not advance to the finals.

Erik Kynard of the USA finished 6th in the men's high jump.

Brittney Reese and Tianna Bartoletta, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the women's long jump.

Ashley Spencer and Dalilah Muhammad, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the women's 400 hurdles. Sydney McLaughlin of the USA did not advance to the finals.

Kerron Clement of the USA advanced to the finals of the men's 400 hurdles. Byron Robinson of the USA did not advance to the finals.

Deajah Stevens and Tori Bowie, both of the USA, advance to the women's 200 finals. Jenna Prandini of the USA did not advance to the finals.

Jenny Simpson of the USA wins bronze in the women's 1500 in 4 minutes 10.53 seconds. Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon of Kenya wins gold in 4 minutes 8.92 seconds. Genzebe Dibaba of Eithiopia wins silver in 4 minutes 10.27 seconds. Shannon Rowbury of the USA finished 4th in 4 minutes 11.05 seconds.

Devon Allen(13.31 seconds) and Ronnie Ash(13.45 seconds), both of the USA, finished 5th and 8th respectively in the men's 110 hurdles. This is the first time in Olympic history that the USA has not medaled in the men's 110 hurdles.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Kerri Walsh Jennings/April Ross lost to Agatha/Barbara of Brazil 20-22, 18-21 in the semifinals. Walsh Jennings/Ross play Larissa/Talita of Brazil for the bronze medal. This was the first Olympic loss for Walsh Jennings. Her record is now 26-1 in Olympic matches.

Day 7



Nathan Adrian and Anthony Ervin, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 50 freestyle.

Katie Ledecky and Leah Smith, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the women's 800 freestyle. Ledecky set a new Olympic record with a time of 8 minutes 12.86 seconds.

Michael Phelps and Tom Shields, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 100 butterfly.

Missy Frankin and Maya DiRado, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the semifinals of the women's 200 backstroke.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat lost to Birlova/Ukolova of Russia 18-21, 26-24, 13-15.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena beat Nicolai/Lupo in a great match, 21-13, 17-21, 24-22.

Simone Biles and Aly Raisman, both of the USA, win gold and silver respectively in the women's all-around gymnastics competition. Aliya Mustafina of Russia wins bronze.
Simone Biles scored 15.866 on the vault, 14.966 on the uneven bars, 15.433 on the balance beam and 15.933 on the floor exercise for a total of 62.198 points.
Aly Raisman scored a 15.633 on the vault, 14.166 on the uneven bars, 14.866 on the balance beam and 15.433 on the floor exercise for a total of 60.098 points.
Aliya Mustafina scored a 15.200 on the vault, 15.666 on the uneven bars, 13.866 on the balance beam and 13.933 on the floor exercise for a total of 58.665 points.

Kayla Harrison of the USA wins gold in women's judo 78kg, beating Audrey Tcheumeo of France 100- 0S2.

Anthony Ervin and Nathan Adrian, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the men's 50 freestyle.

No Americans were in the Finals of the women's 200 breaststroke.

Missy Franklin and Maya DiRado, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the women's 200 backstroke.

USA swimmer Ryan Murphy wins gold in the men's 200 backstroke in 1 minute 53.62 seconds. Mitch Larkin of Great Britain wins silver in 1 minute 53.96 seconds. Evgeny Rylov of Russia wins bronze in 1 minute 53.97 seconds.

Michael Phelps of the USA wins gold in the men's 200IM in 1 minute 54.66 seconds. Kosuke Hagino of Japan wins silver in 1 minute 56.61 seconds. Shun Wang of China wins bronze in 1 minute 57.05 seconds. American Ryan Lochte finished 5th in 1 minute 57.47 seconds.

Simone Manuel of the USA wins gold in the women's 100 freestyle in 52.70 seconds. Penny Oleksiak of Canada also wins gold in a identical time of 52.70 seconds. Sara Sjostrom of Sweden wins silver in 52.99 seconds.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena beat Pulido/Gomez of Mexico 21-14, 21-17.

The USA women's water polo team beat Spain 11-4.

Nathan Adrian and Caeleb Dressel, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 100 freestyle.

Cammille Adams and Haili Flickinger, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the women's 200 butterfly.

Kevin Cordes and Josh Prenot, both of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the men's 200 breaststroke.

The USA advanced to the finals of the men's 4 by 200 freestyle relay.

The USA men's volleyball team lost to Italy 3-1, 26-28, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat lose to Larissa/Talita of Brazil 16-21, 13-21.

Travis Stevens wins silver in men's Judo 81 kg. Khasan Khalmurzaev of Russia wins gold. Sergui Toma of UAE and Takanori Nagase of Japan tie for bronze.

In women's 10M Synchro, USA divers Amy Cozad/Jessica Parratto finished 7th with a total of 301.02 points. Huixia Liu/Chen Roulin of China win gold with a total of 354 points. Jun Hoong Cheong/Pandela Rinong Pamg win silver with a total ofc 344.34 points. Meagan Benfeito/Rosaline Filion of Canada win bronze with a total of 336.18 points.

The USA women's gymnastics team wins gold with a total of 184.897 points. Russia wins silver with a total of 176.688 points. China wins bronze with a total of 176.003 points. Simone Biles scored at 15.933 on vault, 15.800 on floor exercise, 15.300 on balance beam and 14.800 on uneven bars. Aly Raisman scored a 15.833 on vault, 15.366 on floor and 15.000 on balance beam. Laurie Hernandez scored a 15.233 on balance beam, 15.100 on vault and 14.833 on floor exercise. Gabby Douglas scored a 15.766 on uneven bars. Madison Kocian scored a 15.933 on uneven bars.

The USA women's soccer team tied Columbia 2-2. Goals were scored by Crystal Dunn and Mallory Pugh. Columbia scored on a shot that went through USA goalkeeper Hope Solo's legs. The USA had the lead 2-1 when in the 90th minute Columbia scored again to tie it. The USA wins group G.

Aries Merritt, Jason Richardson and Jeff Porter, all of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 110 hurdles.

Americans Will Claye and Christian Taylor advance to the finals of the men's triple jump.

In the women's 5000M, Julie Culley and Molly Huddle, both of the USA, advance to the finals.

In the men's 200M, all 3 Americans, Isiah Young, Maurice Mitchell and Wallace Spearmon, JR. advance to the semifinals.

The USA women's basketball team beat Canada 91-48. Diana Taurasi lead team USA with 15 points.

Aly Raisman of the USA wins bronze on the Balance Beam with a score of 15.066. Deng Linlin of China wins gold with a score of 15.600. Sui Lu of China wins silver with a score of 15.500. Gabby Douglas of the USA finished 7th with a score of 13.633.

Catalina Ponor of Romania wins silver with a score of 15.200. Aliya Mustafina of Russia wins bronze with a score of 14.900. Jordyn Wieber finished 7th with a score of 14.500.

The USA women's volleyball team advances to the semifinals by beating the Dominican Republic 3-0, 25-14,25-21 and 25-22.

Dawn Harper, Kellie Wells and Lolo Jones, all of the USA, advanced to the finals of the women's 100M hurdles.

Nick Symmonds and Duane Solomon, both of the USA, advanced to the finals of the men's 800M.

In the women's 200M semifinals, all 3 americans, Carmelita Jeter, Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards Ross advance to the finals.

Day 5






In men's swimming, in the 100 freestyle, Americans Nathan Adrian and Cullen Jones advance to the semifinals. Nathan Adrian advanceto the finals.

In women's swimming, in the 200 butterfly, Americans Cammile Adams and Kathleen Hersey advance to the semifinals. Both advance to the finals. Kathleen Hersey finished 4th and Cammile Adams finished 5th in the finals on August 1.

In the men's 200 breaststroke, Scott Weltz and Clark Burckle, both of the USA, both advance to the semifinals. Both qualified for the finals. Scott Weltz finished 5th and Clark Burckle finished 6th in the finals on August 1.

The USA qualified for the finals of the men's 4 by 200 freestyle relay.

The USA women's gymnastics team wins gold with 183.596 points. Russia wins silver with 178.530 points and Romania wins bronze with 176.414 points.

The USA men's volleyball team defeated Germany 3-0, 25-23, 25-16 and 25-20.

The USA women's soccer team beat North Korea 1-0. The only goal was scored by Abby Wambach.

The USA men's water polo team beat Romania 10-8.

Allison Schmitt of the USA wins gold in the women's 200 freestyle. Missy Franklin of the USA finished 4th. Camille Muffat of France wins silver and Bronte Baratt of Australia wins bronze.

Michael Phelps of the USA wins silver in the men's 200 Butterfly. Chad Leclos of South Africa wins gold. Takeshi Matsuda of Japan wins bronze.

Caitlin Leverenz of the USA wins bronze in the women's 200IM. Ye Shiwen of China wins gold. Alicia Coutts of Australia wins silver.

The USA team of Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer, Ricky Berens and Michael Phelps win gold in the men's 4 by 200 freestyle relay. France wins silver and China wins bronze.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Jennifer Kessy/April Ross defeated Van Iersel/Keizer of the Netherlands 21-15, 12-21 and 15-8.

The USA men's basketball team beat Tunisia 110-63. Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love each had 16 points for team USA.
