Adam Nelson did not qualify in the men's shot put and 2008 gold medal Olympic champion decathlete Bryan Clay was disqualified for missing a hurdle but then had his points reinstated. He did not finish in the top 5. Mary Wineberg did not make the final in the womens 400. Jeremy Wariner did not qualify in the mens 400. Walter Dix and Doc Patten did not qualify in the mens 100. Maggie Vessey did not qualify in the womens 800. David Oliver finished 5th in the men's 110 hurdles and did not qualify. Bershawn "Batman" Jackson dived across the finish line in the men's 400 hurdles and did not qualify. Tiffany Williams finished 4th in the women's 400 hurdles and did not qualify. Jeneba Tarmoh concedes women's 100m to Allyson Felix instead of the proposed run off between the two. Tarmoh will be a part of the women's 4 X100 relay team. Anna Pierce finished 5th in the women's 1500M and will not qualify. Darvis Patton and Shawn Crawford finished 5th and 7th respectively in the men's 200M and do not qualify for London.

American Deena Castor was injured and dropped out of the women's marathon. No American medaled.

American Christian Cantwell wins silver in the men's shot put. American's Adam Nelson and Reese Hoffa did not medal.

In the women's 10,000m final, American Shalane Flanagan wins bronze. Kara Goucher of the USA finished 10th, American Amy Yoder-Begley finished 26th.

In the evening, the USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers defeated Laciga/Schnider of Switzerland 21-16, 21-23 and 15-13.

In men's swimming, Michael Phelps of the USA wins his 7th gold medal tying him with Mark Spitz. Phelps won gold by .01 of a second ahead of Serbian Milorad Cavic in the men's 100 butterfly. Ian Crocker of the USA finished 4th.

The USA beach volleyball team of Misty May-Treanor/Kerri Walsh beat Mouha/Van Breedam of Belgium 24-22 and 21-10 to advance to the quarterfinals.

In men's swimming, American Michael Phelps wins his 6th gold medal of these games and sets another world record in the 200IM. Ryan Lochte of the USA wins bronze.

In men's swimming, in the 100m freestyle, USA swimmer Jason Lezak wins bronze.

In swimming, in the 4 by 200 freestyle relay the USA wins bronze. Australia wins gold and China wins silver.

In the women's 200 butterfly, USA swimmers Elaine Breeden and Kathleen Hersey finished 7th and 8th respectively.

During the evening, I watched women's synchronized 10m platform diving. The USA team of Mary Beth Dunnicky/Haley Ishimatsu finished 5th. China wins gold.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers advanced to the round of 16 with a 21-12, 21-13 win over Baracetti/Conde of Argentina.

In men's swimming, Michael Phelps of the USA wins 2 gold medals in the 200 butterfly and 4 by 200 freestyle relay. Both were world records. He has now won 11 gold medals, more than any Olympic athlete in US history.

Also in swimming American Natalie Coughlin wins bronze in the women's 200IM.

Later on in the day, I watched the USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers beat Heuscher/Heyer of Switzerland 2-0, 21-15 and 21-10.

The USA women's water polo team defeated China 12-11.

In the evening, I watched the USA men's synchronized 10m diving team of Thomas Finchum and David Boudia finish 5th. Chins wins gold, Germany silver and Russia bronze.

American's Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh defeated Fernandez/Larrea of Cuba 2-0, 21-15 and 21-16 in women's beach volleyball.

In men's swimming, American Michael Phelps sets another world record in winning gold in the 200m freestyle while fellow American Peter Vanderkaay wins bronze.

In the women's 100m backstroke, USA swimmer Natalie Coughlin wins gold, Margaret Hoelzer of the USA wins bronze.

In the men's 100 backstroke, USA swimmer Aaron Peirsol wins gold, Matt Grevers of the USA wins silver.

In the men's gymnastics team final the USA wins bronze, while China wins gold and Japan wins silver. The USA had a chance to win silver but faltered slightly on the pommel horse.

In late night, The USA men's volleyball team beat Venezuela 3-2. The USA team consists of Lloy Ball, David Lee, Reid Priddy, Tom Hoff, Kevin Hansen, Ryan Millar, Riley Salmon, Clay Stanley, Gabe Gardner, Rich Lambourne, Sean Rooney and Scott Touzinsky. The match went until almost 3am.

In the morning, I watched the USA men's basketball team beat Yao Ming and China 101-70. The USA struggled in the first half but led at halftime 49-37.

In the afternoon, I watched the USA men's beach volleyball team of Sean Rosenthal/Jake Gibb beat Boersma/Ronnes of the Netherlands 21-15 and 21-16 in a pouring rain.

In the evening, I watched the USA women's gymnastics team consisting of Shawn Johnson, Bridget Sloan, Samantha Pesek, Alicia Sacramone, Nastia Liukin and Chellcie Memmell perform on the floor exercise, uneven bars, balance beam, and vault. They are currently second behind China. The scoring system has changed so that gymnasts get scores in the 14-16 range.

In women's swimming, Christine Magnuson of the USA wins silver in the 100m butterfly.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh defeated Kusuhara/Saiki of Japan 21-12 and 21-15.

In men's swimming, American Michael Phelps broke a world record in the 400IM to win gold.

Larsen Jensen of the USA wins bronze in the men's 400 freestyle.
