In late night, The USA men's volleyball team beat Venezuela 3-2. The USA team consists of Lloy Ball, David Lee, Reid Priddy, Tom Hoff, Kevin Hansen, Ryan Millar, Riley Salmon, Clay Stanley, Gabe Gardner, Rich Lambourne, Sean Rooney and Scott Touzinsky. The match went until almost 3am.
In the morning, I watched the USA men's basketball team beat Yao Ming and China 101-70. The USA struggled in the first half but led at halftime 49-37.
In the afternoon, I watched the USA men's beach volleyball team of Sean Rosenthal/Jake Gibb beat Boersma/Ronnes of the Netherlands 21-15 and 21-16 in a pouring rain.
In the evening, I watched the USA women's gymnastics team consisting of Shawn Johnson, Bridget Sloan, Samantha Pesek, Alicia Sacramone, Nastia Liukin and Chellcie Memmell perform on the floor exercise, uneven bars, balance beam, and vault. They are currently second behind China. The scoring system has changed so that gymnasts get scores in the 14-16 range.
In women's swimming, Christine Magnuson of the USA wins silver in the 100m butterfly.
Michael Phelps of the USA wins gold as part of the 4 by 100 freestyle relay.
