Day 16 - Mid Day Japan Time August 7 to Mid Day Japan time August 8



















The USA men's basketball team wins gold by beating France 87-82. France wins silver. The USA led 44-39 at halftime. The USA shot 46 percent for the game. The USA was led in scoring by Kevin Durant with 29 points followed by Jayson Tatum with 19 points, and Damian Lillard/Jrue Holiday had 11 points each for team USA.  Australia wins bronze by beating Slovenia 107-93. 

Americans Jordan Windle (407.90 points) and Brandon Loschiavo (383.65 points) finish 9th and 11th respectively, in the men's platform diving finals. Yuan Cao of China wins gold with 582.35 points. Jian Yang of China wins silver with 580.40 points and Tom Daley of Great Britain wins bronze with 548.25 points. 

The USA women's water polo team wins gold by beating Spain 14-5. Spain wins silver. Maddie Musselman led team USA with 3 goals, followed by Aria Fischer, Alys Williams and Kaleigh Gilchrist with 2 goals each.  Hungary beats ROC 11-9 for bronze.

The USA baseball team won silver while losing to Japan 2-0. Japan wins gold. Nick Martinez of the USA was the losing pitcher. The Dominican Republic wins bronze by beating Korea 10-6. 

Emily Sisson (31 minutes  9.58 seconds), Karissa Schweizer (31 minutes 19.96 seconds) and Alicia Monson (31 minutes 21.36 second), all of the USA, finish 10th, 12th and 13th respectively in the women's 10000M finals. Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands wins gold in 29 minutes 55.32 seconds, Kalkidan Gezahegne of Bahrain wins silver in 29 minutes 56.18 seconds and Letesenbet Giday of Ethiopia wins bronze in 30 minutes 1.72 seconds.

American Vashti Cunningham finished tied for 6th (6 Ft. 5 in) in the women's high jump final.

American Cole Hocker (3 minutes 31.40 seconds) finished 6th in the men's 1500 finals. Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway wins gold in 3 minutes 28.32 seconds, Timothy Cheruiyot of Kenya wins silver in 3 minutes 29.01 seconds and Josh Kerr of Great Britain wins bronze in 3 minutes 29.05 seconds.

The USA women's 4 by 400 relay team of Sydney McLaughlin, Allyson Felix, Dalilah Muhammad and Athing Mu wins gold in 3 minutes 16.85 seconds, Poland wins silver in 3 minutes 20.53 seconds and Jamaica wins bronze in 3 minutes 21.24 seconds.

Allyson Felix becomes the most decorated female in USA history with 11 medals and the most decorated USA track and field athlete ever man or woman passing Carl Lewis.

The USA men's 4 by 400 relay team of Michael Cherry, Michael Norman, Bryce Deadmon and Rai Benjamin wins gold in 2 minutes 55.70 seconds, The Netherlands wins silver in 2 minutes 57.18 seconds and Botswana wins bronze in 2 minutes 57,27 seconds.

The USA equestrian team of Laura Kraut, Jessica Springsteen and McLain Ward wins silver in the jumping team finals  jump off. Sweden wins gold and Belgium wins bronze.

Nelly Korda of the USA wins gold (shooting a 267) in women's gold Individual stroke play. Mone Inami of Japan shoots a 268 and wins a play off to win silver and Lydia Ko of New Zealand wins bronze also shooting a 268 but losing the playoff to Japan. 

American Kyle Snyder wins silver by losing to Abdulrashid Sadulaev (gold) of ROC 6-3 in the men's freestyle wrestling 97kg final.

Sarah Hildebrandt wins bronze by beating Oksana Livach of Ukraine 12-1 in the women's freestyle 50kg wrestling bronze medal match. 

American Galen Rupp finished 8th in the men's marathon in 2 hours 11 minutes and 41 seconds.

The USA women's basketball team beat Serbia 79-59 to advance to the gold medal match. The USA led 41-23 at halftime. The USA was led in scoring by Brittney Griner with 15 points, Chelsea Gray added 14 points followed by Breanna Stewart with 12 points. 

The USA women's volleyball team advanced to the gold medal match vs. Brazil by beating Serbia 3-0, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.

Americans Brandon Loschiavo finished 11th with 403.85 points and Jordan Windle finished 15th  with 390.05 points to advance to the men's10M platform diving semifinals. Top 18 advance from the prelims to the semifinals.

The USA men's water polo team beat Italy 7-6 in the 5-8 classification, Alex Bowen had 3 goals to lead team USA.

The USA men's 4 by 400 relay team of Trevor Stewart, Randolph Ross, Bryce Deadmon and Vernon Norwood advance to the finals.

Americans Elle Purrier St. Pierre and Cory McGee finished 10th and 12th respectively, in the women's 1500 finals.

Paul Chelimo of the USA wins bronze (12 minutes 59.05 seconds) in the men's 5000M finals. Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda wins gold in 12 minutes 58.15 seconds and Mohammed Ahmad of Canada wins silver in 12 minutes 58.61 seconds.

American Allyson Felix wins bronze (49.46 seconds) in the women's 400. Felix has 10 medals total which now is the most of any female track and field athlete in history. Felix ties Carl Lewis with 10 total track and field medals. Shaunae Miller-Uibo wins gold in 48.36 seconds and Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic wins silver in 49.20 seconds.

The USA 4 by 100 track and field team of Javianne Oliver, Teahna Daniels, Jenna Prandini  and Gabby Thomas wins silver in 41.45 seconds. Jamaica wins gold in 41.02 seconds (second fastest all time) and Great Britain wins bronze in 41.88 seconds.

Italy wins gold (37.50 seconds) in the men's 4 by 100 relay. Great Britain wins silver in 37.51 seconds and Canada wins bronze in 37.70 seconds. The USA finished 6th in the semifinals and did not qualify for the finals.

American Molly Seidel wins bronze (2 hours 27 minutes and 46 seconds) in the women's marathon. Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya wins gold in 2 hours 27 minutes and 20 seconds and Brigit Kosgei of Kenya wins silver in 2 hours 27 minutes and 36 seconds.

American Kyle Dake wins bronze by beating Frank Chamizo Marquez of Italy 5-0 in men's 74kg freestyle wrestling bronze medal match.

Gable Steveson of the USA wins gold by beating Geno Petriashvili of Georgia 10-8 in the men's freestyle wrestling 125kg classification.

Jordan Windle ( 9th place - 409.80 points) and Brandon Loschiavo (10th place - 409.75 points), both of the USA, advanced to the men's 10M platform diving finals.

Day 16






Gwen Jorgensen of the USA wins gold in the women's triathlon in 1 hour 56 minutes and 16 seconds. Nicola Spirig of Switzerland wins silver in 1 hour 56 minutes and 56 seconds. Vicky Holland of Great Britain wins bronze in 1 hour 57 minutes and 1 second.

The USA women's volleyball team wins bronze by beating the Netherlands, 3-1, 25-23, 25-27, 25-22, 25-19. China wins gold by beating Serbia 3-1, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23. Serbia wins silver.

The USA women's basketball team beat Spain to win gold 101-72. Spain wins silver. The USA led 49-32 at halftime. The USA was led by Lindsay Whalen and Diana Taurasi who had 17 points each to lead team USA. Serbia beat France 70-63 to win bronze. This is the 6th consecutive women's basketball gold medal for team USA.

J'den Cox of the USA wins bronze in the men's 86kg freestyle wrestling competition. Cox beat Reineris Salas Perez of Cuba 5-0.

USA men's 10M platform diver David Boudia advanced to the finals in 10th place with 458.35 points. Steele Johnson of the USA finished 13th(447.85 points) and did not advance to the finals.
Boudia wins bronze with 525.25 points in the men's 10M Platform diving competition finals. Chen Aisen of China wins gold with 585.30 points. German Sanchez of Mexico wins silver with 532.70 points.

Matthew Centrowitz of the USA wins gold in the men's 1500 in 3 minutes 50 seconds. Taoufik Makhloufi of Algeria wins silver in 3 minutes 50.11 seconds. Nicholas Willis of New Zealand wins bronze in 3 minutes 50.24 seconds.

Kate Grace of the USA finished 8th in the women's 800 in 1 minute 59.57 seconds.

Chaunte Lowe, Inika McPherson and Vashti Cunningham, all of the USA, finished 4th, 10th and 13th respectively in the women's high jump.

Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo of the USA wins silver in the men's 5000 in 13 minutes 3.90 seconds.
Mo Farah of Great Britain wins gold in 13 minutes 3.30 seconds. Hagos Gebrhiwet of Eithiopia wins bronze in 13 minutes 4.35 seconds. Bernard Lagat of the USA finished 5th in 13 minutes 6.78 seconds.

The USA women's 4 by 400 relay team of Courtney Okolo, Natasha Hastings, Phyllis Francis and Allyson Felix win gold in 3 minutes 19.06 seconds. Jamaica wins silver in 3 minutes 20.34 seconds. Great Britain wins bronze in 3 minutes 25.88 seconds.

The USA men's 4 by 400 relay team of Arman Hall, Tony McQuay, Gil Roberts and Lashawn Merritt wins gold in 2 minutes 57.30 seconds. Jamaica wins silver in 2 minutes 58.18 seconds. The Bahamas wins bronze in 2 minutes 58.49 seconds.

The USA has won 31 track and field medals at Rio 2016!

Day 15



The USA men's volleyball team lost in the semifinals to Italy 3-2, 28-30, 28-26, 25-9, 22-25, 9-15. The USA will play for a bronze medal against Russia.

The USA women's water polo team beat Italy 12-5 to win gold. Italy wins silver. Russia beat Hungary 19-18 for bronze. The USA is the first water polo team to win 2 consecutive gold medals in the Olympics.

The USA men's basketball team beat Spain 82-76 in the semifinals to move on to the gold medal game vs Serbia. The USA led 45-39 at halftime. The USA was led by Klay Thompson with 22 points. Kevin Durant added 14 points for the USA.

David Boudia of the USA advances to the semifinals of the men's 10M platform diving competition with 496.55 points.

The USA men's 4 by 400 relay team advanced to the finals.

The USA women's 4 by 400 relay team advanced to the finals.

Shelby Houlihan of the USA finished 11th in the women's 5000 in 15 minutes 8.89 seconds. Abbey D Agostino of the USA was allowed to advance to this final but did not compete due to injury.

Sandi Morris of the USA wins silver in the women's pole vault. Ekaterini Stefanidi of Greece wins gold. Eliza McCartney of New Zealand wins bronze. Jenn Suhr of the USA finished 7th.

The USA women's 4 by 100 relay team of Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, English Gardner and Tori Bowie win gold in 41.01 seconds. Jamaica wins silver in 41.36 seconds. Great Britain wins bronze in 41.77 seconds.

The USA men's 4 by 100 relay team of Mike Rodgers, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Trayvon Brommell finished 3rd in 37.62 seconds but then was later disqualified for passing outside of the lane. Jamaica wins gold in 37.27 seconds. Japan wins silver in 37.60 seconds. Canada wins bronze in 37.64 seconds.

Tori Bowie, Jenna Prandini and Deajah Stevens, all of the USA, advance to the women's 200 semifinals.

Christian Taylor and Will Claye, both of the USA, advance to the men's triple jump final.

Emma Coburn of the USA wins bronze in the women's 3000 steeplechase in 9 minutes 7.63 seconds. Ruth Tebet of Bahrain wins gold in 8 minutes 59.75 seconds. Hyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi wins silver in 9 minutes 7.12 seconds.

Amber Campbell of the USA finished 6th in the women's hammer throw in 238.8 ft.

The USA men's volleyball team beat Mexico 3-0, 25-23, 24-11, 25-19 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Byron Robinson and Kerron Clement, both of the USA, advance to the semifinals of the men's 400 hurdles. Michael Tinsley of the USA did not advance.

Evan Jager, Donn Cabral, and Hillary Bor, all of the USA, advance to the finals of the men's 3000 steeplechase.

The USA women's water polo team beat Brazil 13-3.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena lost to Alison/Bruno of Brazil 14-21, 21-12, 9-15. Dalhausser/Lucena are eliminated in the quarterfinals. They finished 5th.

Laurie Hernandez of the USA wins silver on the women's balance beam with a 15.333. Simone Biles of the USA wins bronze with a 14.733. Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands wins gold with a 15.466.

USA men's 3M springboard divers Kristian Ipsen and Michael Hixon advanced to the semifinals.

No one from the USA men's gymnastics team competed on the rings or vault in the Individual event competition.

Haley Anderson of the USA finished 5th in the women's 10K open water competition.

Jeff Porter, Devon Allen and Ronnie Ash, all of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the men's 110 hurdles.

Sydney McLaughlin, Ashley Spencer and Dalilah Mohammad, all of the USA, advanced to the semifinals of the women's 400 hurdles.

Clayton Murphy of the USA wins bronze in the men's 800 in 1 minute 42.93 seconds. David Rudisha of Kenya wins gold in 1 minute 42.15 seconds. Taoufik Makhloufi of Algeria wins silver in 1 minute 42.61 seconds.

Sam Kendricks of the USA wins bronze in the men's pole vault. Thiago Braz da Silva of Brazil wins gold. Renaud Lavillenie of France wins silver.

Allyson Felix of the USA wins silver in the women's 400 in 49.51 seconds. Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas dived for the finish line just ahead of Felix to win gold in 49.44 seconds. Shericka Jackson of Jamaica wins bronze in 49.85 seconds. Natasha Hastings and Phyllis Francis, both of the USA, finish 4th and 5th respectively.

The USA women's volleyball team wins silver by losing to Brazil 3-1, 25-11, 17-25, 20-25 and 17-25. Brazil wins gold. Japan wins bronze.

No Americans medaled in the men's 5000M. Bernard Lagat of the USA finished 4th. Mo Farah of Great Britain wins gold.

No Americans medaled in the women's 800M. Alysia Montano of the USA finished 4th.

Brigetta Barrett of the USA wins silver in the women's high jump. Anna Chicherova of Russia wins gold. Svetlana Shkolina of Russia wins bronze.

The USA women's 4 by 400M relay team consisting of Dee Dee Trotter, Allyson Felix, Francena McCrorory and Sanya Richards Ross wins gold with a time of 3 minutes 16.87 seconds. Russia wins silver with a time of 3 minutes 20.23 seconds. Jamaica wins bronze with a time of 3 minutes 20.95 seconds.

The USA men's 4 by 100M relay team consisting of Trell Kimmons, Tyson Gay, Justin Gatlin and Ryan Bailey wins silver with a American record of 37.04 seconds. Jamaica wins gold with a world record time of 36.84 seconds. Trinidad and Tobago wins bronze with a time of 38.12 seconds. Canada was originally 3rd but was disqualified.

David Boudia and Nick McCrory both of the USA advanced to the finals of the men's 10M diving competition.

American Jordan Burroughs wins gold in men's freestyle wrestling 163lbs beating Sadegh Saeed Goudarzi of Iran 3-0. Goudarzi wins silver.

The USA men's water polo team lost to Spain 8-7 in the 5-8 classification.

The USA women's 4 by 400M relay team advanced to the finals.

The USA men's 4 by 100M relay team advanced to the finals.

The USA women's 4 by 100M relay team consisting of Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight and Carmelita Jeter wins gold with a world record time of 40.82 seconds. Jamaica wins silver with a time of 41.41 seconds. Ukraine wins bronze with a time of 42.04 seconds.

The USA men's 4 by 400M relay team consisting of Bryshon Nellum, Joshua Mance, Tony Mcquay and Angelo Taylor wins silver with a time of 2 minutes 57.05 seconds. The Bahamas wins gold with a time of 2 minutes 56.72 seconds. Trinidad and Tobago wins bronze with a time of 2 minutes 59.40 seconds.

No American's medaled in the women's 1500M, men's pole vault and women's 5000M.

The USA men's basketball team advanced to the gold medal game against Spain by beating Argentina 109-83. The USA was leading 47-40 at halftime. Kevin Durant led team USA with 19 points and Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony had 18 points each.

Brad Walker of the USA advances to the finals of the men's pole vault.

All 3 Americans, Lopez Lomong, Bernard Lagat and Galen Rupp advances to the finals of the men's 5000M.

All 3 Americans, Alysia Montano, Alice Schmidt and Geena Gall advances to the semifinals of the women's 800M.

Jason Richardson and Aries Merritt, both of the USA, advances to the finals of the men's 110 hurdles.

Morgan Uceny and Shannon Rowbury, both of the USA, advances to the finals of the women's 1500M.

The USA men's volleyball team was eliminated in the quarterfinals, losing to Italy 3-0, 26-28, 20-25 and 20-25.

The USA men's water polo team lost to Serbia 8-2.

Wallace Spearmon, Jr. of the USA advances to the finals of the men's 200M.

Americans Brittney Reese and Janay Deloach win gold and bronze respectively in the women's long jump. Elena Sokolova of Russia wins silver.

Lashinda Demus of the USA wins silver in the women's 400M hurdles final. Natalya Antyukh of Russia wins gold. Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic wins bronze.

Allyson Felix (21.88) and Carmelita Jeter(22.14) both of the USA win gold and bronze respectively in the women's 200M final. Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce of Jamaica(22.09) wins silver.

Aries Merritt and Jason Richardson, both of the USA, wins gold and silver respectively in the men's 110M hurdles final. Hansle Parchment of Jamaica wins bronze.

The USA women's beach volleyball team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings win gold beating the USA team of Jennifer Kessy/April Ross 21-16 and 21-16. Kessy/Ross win silver. Larissa/Juliana of Brazil win bronze.

The USA men's basketball team advances to the semifinals by beating Australia 119-86. Kobe Bryant led team USA with 20 points while Deron Williams had 18.
