Day 9 - August 3, 2024









Americans Harrison Williams (14.28), Heath Baldwin ( (14.04) and Zach Ziemek (15.11) scored 939, 969 and 836 points respectively in the men's decathlon 110 hurdles. 

American Sam Kendricks advanced to the men's pole vault finals.

Americans Zach Ziemek (50.08) scored 872 points, Harrison Williams (46.91) scored  806 points and Heath Baldwin (43.66) scored 739 points in the men's decathlon discus throw.

Gretchen Walsh of the USA, advanced to the women's50 freestyle semifinals.

The USA wins bronze (5:25.28) in men's rowing eight finals. Great Britain (5:22.88) wins gold and the Netherlands (5:23.92) wins silver.

American Bobby Finke advanced to the men's 1500 freestyle final.

Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, and Fred Kerley, all of the USA, advanced to the men's 100 semifinals.

The USA men's 4 by 100 medley relay team of Hunter Armstrong, Charlie Swanson and Jack Alexy advanced to the final.

The USA women's 4 by 100 medley relay team of Katharine Berkoff, Emma Weber, Alex Shackell and Kate Douglass advanced to the final.

Americans Harrison Williams (5.10) scored 941 points in the men's decathlon pole vault. Zach Ziemek (5.00) scored 910 points and Heath Baldwin  (4.70) scored 819 points.

The USA women's soccer team beat Japan 1-0 to advance to the semifinals. The lone goal was scored by Trinity Rodman in the 105th minute in the first period of extra time.

Vincent Hancock and Conner Lynn Prince, both of the USA, win gold and silver respectively in the men's skeet shooting final. Yuan Meng Lee of Taiwan wins bronze.

Simone Biles (15.300) and Jade Carey (14.466), both of the USA, win gold and bronze respectfully in women's gymnastics vault final. Rebeca Andrade of Brazil (14.966) wins silver.

The USA men's basketball team beat Puerto Rico 104-83.The USA led 64-45 at halftime. The USA had balanced scoring and was led in scoring by Anthony Edwards with 26 points.

USA men's gymnast Steven Nedoroscik (15.300) wins bronze on pommel horse. Rhys Mcclenaghan (15.533) of Ireland wins gold and Nariman Kurbanov (15.433) of Kazakhstan wins silver.

The USA women's 3 on 3 basketball team beat China 14-12.Hailey van Lith scored 6 points to lead team USA.

Americans Heath Baldwin (67.59) scored  853 points in the men's decathlon javelin throw. Zach Ziemek (57.05) scored 694 points and Harrison Williams (51.17) scored 606 points.

Ryan Crouser (22.90) and Joe Kovacs (22.15) win gold and silver respectively in the men's shot put final. Rajindra Campbell (22.15) of Jamaica wins bronze.

Melissa Jefferson, Sha'carri Richardson and Twanisha Terry, all of the USA, advanced to the women'a 100 final.

American Jasmine Moore (14.67) wins bronze in the women's triple jump. Thea Lafond (15.02) of  Dominica wins gold and Shanieka Ricketts (14.87) of Jamaica wins silver. 

The USA 4 by 400 mixed relay team (3:07.74) of Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon and Kaylyn Brown win silver. The Netherlands wins gold in 3:07.43 and Great Britain wins bronze in 3:08.01. Femke Bol runs down Kaylyn Brown to win gold for the Netherlands.

Sha'carri Richardson (10.87) and Melissa Jefferson (10.92), both of the USA win silver and bronze respectfully in the women's 100. Julien Alfred of St. Lucia wins gold in 10.72. 

Harrison Williams of the USA (4:19.58) scores 814 points in the men's decathlon 1500. Americans Heath Baldwin (4:40.67) scored 676 points and Zach Ziemek (4:53.17) scored 600 points. Harrison Williams finishes 7th with 8538 points, Heath Baldwin finished 10th with 8422 points and Zach Ziemek finished 17th with 7983 points in the men's decathlon.

American Kate Douglass (2:06.92) wins silver in the women's 200 IM. Summer McIntosh wins gold in an Olympic record 2:06.56 and Kaylee McKeown of Australia wins bronze in 2:08/08. American Alex Walsh originally won bronze in 2:07.45 but was disqualified when she did not make a proper turn. 

Katie Ledecky (8:11.04) and Paige Madden (8:13.00), both of the USA, win gold and bronze respectively in the women's 800 freestyle. Ariarne Titmus (8:12.29) of Australia wins silver.

The USA medley relay team of Ryan Murphy, Nic Fink, Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske win gold in  world record time of 3:37.43 in the mixed 4 by 100 medley relay. China wins silver in 3:37.55 and Australia wins bronze in 3:38.76. 

The USA women's 3 on 3 basketball team beat China 21-13. Dearica Hamby led team USA with 9 points.

The USA men's beach volleyball team of Miles Evans/Chase Budinger beat Zach Schubert/Thomas Hodges of Australia 2-0, 21-19, 21-17 to move on to the round of 16.

The USA women's volleyball team advanced to the semifinals by beating the Dominican Republic 3-0, 25-11, 25-20, 25-19. The USA women will play next on Thursday August 5.

The USA baseball team beat the Dominican Republic 3-1. Scott Kazmir got the win and David Robertson got the save.

The USA women's basketball team beat Australia 79-55 to advance to the semifinals. The USA led 48-27 at halftime. The USA was led in scoring by Breanna Stewart with 23 points, Brittney Griner had 15 points and A'ja Wilson had 10 points for team USA.

Americans Delaney Schnell (3rd place-360.75 points) and Katrina Young (17th place - 286.65 points) advance the the women's 10M platform diving semifinals.

Through the first 5 of 10 events of the men's decathlon, USA athletes totals are: Steve Bastien with 4369 points, Zack Ziemek has 4322 points and Garrett Scantling has 4318 points.

Through the first 4 of 7 events of the women's heptathlon, USA athletes totals are: Annie Kunz with 3870 points, Erica Bougard has 3837 points and Kendell Williams has 3776 points.

Elle Purrier St. Pierre and Cory McGee, both of the USA, advanced to the women's 1500 finals.

Allyson Felix and Quanera Hayes, both of the USA, advanced to the women's 400 finals.

Courtney Frerichs of the USA wins silver (9 minutes 4.49 seconds) in the women's 3000 steeplechase. Peruth Chemutai of Uganda wins gold in 9 minutes 1.45 seconds and Hyvin Kiyeng of Kenya wins bronze in 9 minutes 5.39 seconds. Valerie Constien of the USA finished 12th in 9 minutes 31.61 seconds and Emma Coburn of the USA  finished 14th in 9 minutes 41.50 seconds after falling over one of the barriers. Coburn was later disqualified. 

American Clayton Murphy finished 9th (1 minute 46.53 seconds) in the men's 800M final.

Americans Ken Bednarek wins silver (19.68 seconds) and Noah Lyles wins bronze (19.74 seconds) in the men's 200. Andre de Grasse of Canada wins gold in 19.62 seconds. American Erriyon Knighton finished 4th in 19.93 seconds.

The USA beach volleyball team of April Ross/Alix Klineman advanced to the gold medal match by beating Verge-Depre/Heidrich of Switzerland 2-0, 21-12, 21-11. 

Delaney Schnell of the USA (3rd - 342.75 points) advanced to the women's 10M platform diving finals. American Katrina Young finished 17th with 263.60 points and did not advance to the finals.

The USA women's 4 by 100 relay team of Javianne Oliver, Teahna Daniels, English Gardner and Aleia Hobbs advanced to the finals.

The USA men's 4 by 100 relay team of Trayvon Bromell, Fred Kerley. Ronnie Baker and Cravon Gillespie finished 6th in 38.10 seconds and did not advance to the finals. Bad handoff between Kerley and Baker puts the USA behind. Ghana finishes 5th in the relays and beats out the USA by .02 of a second.

American Will Claye finishes 4th (57 Ft. 2 3/4 in.) in the men's triple jump.

After 7 of 10 men's decathlon events USA athletes Garrett Scantling has 6065 points, Zach Ziemek has 5996 points and Steve Bastien has 5970 points.

After 6 of 7 women's heptathlon events USA athletes Annie Kunz has 5540 points and Erica Bougard has 5499 points. Kendell Williams's group will be up on the javelin at 12:40 am Eastern time.

American Grant Holloway wins silver (13.09 seconds) in the men's 110 hurdles final. Hansle Parchment of Jamaica wins gold in 13.04 seconds and Ronald Levy of Jamaica wins bronze in 13.10 seconds. Devon Allen of the USA finished 4th in 13.14 seconds.

Americans Ryan Crouser wins gold (76 Ft. 3 3/4 in. ) and Joe Kovacs wins silver ( 74 Ft. 3 3/4 in.) in the men's shot put. Tom Walsh of New Zealand wins bronze with a throw of 73 Ft. 8 3/4 in.

Day 14





Chaunte Lowe, Inika Mcpherson and Vashti Cunningham, all of the USA, advance to the women's high jump finals.

Ryan Crouser and Joe Kovacs, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the men's shot put.

The USA women's 4 by 100 relay team was originally disqualified after Allyson Felix was impeded by the elbow of a Brazillian. Felix then dropped the baton but the USA did finish and filed a protest. The protest was allowed and the USA will run a solo heat to qualify for the finals on Friday.

The USA men's 4 by 100 relay team advanced to the finals in 37.65 seconds.

Kerron Clement of the USA wins gold in the men's 400 hurdles in 47.73 seconds. Boniface Mucheru Tumuti of Kenya wins silver in 47.78 seconds. Yashmani Copello of Turkey wins bronze in 47.92 seconds.

The USA women's volleyball team lost to Serbia 3-2, 25-20, 17-25, 21-25, 25-16, 13-15. The USA women's team will play for the bronze medal.

Jessica Parratto and Katrina Young, both of the USA, advance to the finals of the women's 10M platform diving competition. In the finals Jessica Parratto finished 10th with 334.60 points.

Helen Maroulis of the USA wins gold in the women's 53kg freestyle wrestling competition with a win against Saori Yoshida of Japan 3-1. Its the first gold medal for a USA woman in the Olympic games.

The USA women's basketball team beat France 86-67 to advance to the gold medal game against Spain on Saturday. The USA overcame a slow start to lead 40-36 a halftime. Diana Taurasi led team USA with 18 points. Maya Moore had 15 points for team USA.

Ryan Crouser(73 ft 10 3/4 in) and Joe Kovacs(71 ft 5 1/2in), both of the USA, wins gold and silver respectively in the men's shot put. Tomas Walsh of New Zealand wins bronze with a throw of 70 ft 1 in. Ryan Crouser sets an Olympic record.

Kate Grace of the USA advanced to the women's 800 finals. Ajee Wilson of the USA did not advance to the finals.

The USA women's 4 by 100 relay team ran a solo heat and finished in 41,77 seconds. The USA displaced China who was 8th. Brazil was disqualified for impeding Allyson Felix. The USA advances to the finals.

Ben Blankenship and Matthew Centrowitz, both of the USA, advanced to the finals of the men's 1500.

Ashton Eaton of the USA wins gold in the decathlon with 8893 points, which is an Olympic record. Kevin Mayer of France wins silver with 8834 points. Damian Warner of Canada wins bronze with 8666 points.

Dalilah Muhammad(53.13 seconds) and Ashley Spencer(53.72 seconds), both of the USA win gold and bronze respectively in the women's 400 hurdles. Sara Peterson of Denmark wins silver in 53.55 seconds. This was the first Olympic medal ever for the USA in this event.

Usain Bolt of Jamaica wins gold in the men's 200 in 19.78 seconds. Andre De Grasse of Canada wins silver in 20.02 seconds. Christope Lemaitre of France wins bronze in 20.12 seconds. Lashawn Merritt of the USA finished 6th in 20.19 seconds.
